Overview/Course Description:
Students will address moral, ethical, and faith-based questions as they are applied to the field of Information Systems. Major topics include policy formation and ethics in information systems. Subtopics will include federal regulations (such as Telecommunications Act, Patriot Act, HIPPA, and FERPA), identify theft, copyright law, digital divide implications, computer disposal policy, privacy and workplace issues. Students will study case studies, research the parameters of information policy issues by identifying various stakeholders’ attributes and responsibilities to the problem, then discuss and formulate their own stand on the issues.
Prerequisites:
CIS Majors within last two semester of graduation.
